Project Description

What Is Stoneware?

Stoneware is a high-fired clay body, making your finished piece extremely durable and long-lasting. Stoneware is microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe, making it perfect for everyday use.

This activity is recommended for teens and adults. Proper glaze application is essential—every surface must be evenly coated. Any missed spots will fire as raw, unfinished clay. Because of the precision required, stoneware is not suggested for young children. See below for more details!

Stoneware Glaze Policy

All stoneware pieces at Katie’s Clay Studio are hand-painted by the customer, and because of this, final results will vary.

Glaze colors, combinations, and finishes depend on the customer’s application technique, including glaze thickness and coverage. These variations are a natural part of the stoneware glazing process.

Katie’s Clay Studio is not responsible for the final appearance of customer-painted items. This includes (but is not limited to) color variations, glaze reactions, texture changes, and other effects caused by application choices.

Please note: if glaze is applied too thick, it may run during firing and stick to the kiln shelf. This can potentially cause damage to the piece or result in breakage during the firing process.

If this occurs, a partial studio credit may be issued at our discretion. No refunds or full studio credits will be provided.

Refund Policy

  • ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
  • Refunds are NOT given for variations in color, glaze effects, or customer glazing techniques.

  • If a project is deemed unusable due to an issue on our end, a refund or remake option will be provided.

  • Our goal is to set clear expectations and ensure a positive stoneware experience for every customer.
